One of the most shocking facts of history is this: Almost all terrorism, throughout history, is of the false-flag, state sponsored variety.







Even as a kid, in the 60s and 70s, I liked to listen to the news. My Grandmother was a news junky who listened to the all-news radio most of the day. Then there was Huntley-Brinkley and Cronkite in the evening. I was just a kid, but I remember that the occasional terrorist bombing was always a big story. I didn't understand what it was all about, groups with strange names like the Red Brigades, Bader Meinhoff, November 17th, SPLA, committed acts that seemed incomprehensible. Why? No one seemed to know.

It didn't make sense to me why a leftist group in Italy (Red Brigades) would kidnap the PM just as communists were being offered seats in the government. It didn't make sense, in general, for terrorist groups to bomb innocents, it only makes themselves look bad and hurts their own cause.

Now, as an adult, of course, I know why. I know why a group associated with a radical cause would blow up its own people. Why an Iraqi group, for example, would blow up Iraqi children gathering candy. The reason is called "False Flag Terrorism." In other words, it is not REALLY an Iraqi group bombing Iraqi children, it is "someone else" doing it and placing the blame on the Iraqis. The Red Brigades weren't really a left wing group, they were a cell of Gladio, a NATO organ, trying to keep Italy from sliding to the left.

It seems to be the case that ALMOST ALL terrorism, all but the most petty-criminal, lone-wolf instances of terrorism, are false-flag and state sponsored. In a quick survey of the history of terrorism you will be hard pressed to find more than 10% of terrorist events that are not false-flag operations and even in those cases it may be that we do not yet know the truth.

Guy Fawkes; Nov 5, 1605, London
You'd have to be British to know about this one, but it's very famous over there. Guy Fawkes Day is still celebrated with fireworks in the UK. It marks the day that Fawkes was caught trying to blow-up parliment by packing the basement with gunpowder. Fawkes is just the patsi, the plot was actually run by the royal chancelor, Lord Robert Cecil to advance his political aims, which it did.


Hitler: The Reichstag Fire, 1933

Hitler is Chancellor but Nazis are only a minority in the government. They crucially control the Ministry of the Interior of Prussia (Prussia had been brought under direct rule the previous summer as the result of an emergency decree by Hindenburg, the President). This gives control of the police in two thirds of Germany to the Nazis.

What happened On the 27th February the Reichstag is empty as it had been in recess since December. At 21:27 there is a huge explosion and the great chamber is enveloped by flames. In the rear of the building a half naked dutchman, Marinus van der Lubbe is discovered and arrested. He claims to have done it as "a protest".

Hitler and Goring arrive on the scene. Goring at once accuses the communists. The next day the ageing President signs a decree which allows the nazis to suspend freedom of speech which they use to ban virtually the entire opposition press. Communists are arrested wholesale though the party is not banned until after the elections so that the left vote will remain split.

Did the communists do it? Torgler, the chairman of the Communist deputies to the Reichstag and a number of other communists are arrested including several Bulgarians. There is absolutely no evidence that they were involved and at the trial bought by the Nazis collapsed some months latter the prosecution case collapsed for this reason.

Did the Nazis do it? The Nazis clearly gained and for that reason were the prime suspects from the first. However given Germany was immediately plunged into a state of total dictatorship it was initially difficult to gather hard evidence. There is circumstantial evidence that points to the Nazis. First van der Lubbe was, in the period, immediately before the fire in the clutches of a couple of a couple of SA men. Karl Ernst head of the SA in Berlin when asked by a fellow Dutch rightist whether his Storm Troopers were responsible for the fire answered "If I said Yes, I'd be a bloody fool, if I said no I'd be a bloody liar."

9/11 Synthetic Terror by Webster Griffin Tarpley

It is with great sadness that I conclude that this book is the strongest of the 770+ books I have reviewed here at Amazon, almost all non-fiction. I am forced to conclude that 9/11 was at a minimum allowed to happen as a pretext for war (see my review of Jim Bamford's "Pretext for War"), and I am forced to conclude that there is sufficient evidence to indict (not necessarily convict) Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and others of a neo-conservative neo-Nazi coup d'etat and kick-off of the clash of civilizations (see my review of "Crossing the Rubicon" as well as "State of Denial"). Most fascinatingly, the author links Samuel Huntington, author of "Clash of Civilizations" with Leo Strauss, the connecting rod between Nazi fascists and the neo-cons.

This is, without question, the most important modern reference on state-sponsored terrorism, and also the reference that most pointedly suggests that select rogue elements within the US Government, most likely led by Dick Cheney with the assistance of George Tenet, Buzzy Kronguard, and others close to the Wall Street gangs, are the most guilty of state-sponsored terrorism.

The author draws on historical examples of US fabrication of threats (e.g. the bombing of the USS Maine in Havana Harbor) and many others (Jim Bamford publicized Operation Northwoods). It is an undeniable fact that the U.S. Government has been willing to kill its own citizens and fabricate attacks as part of moving the public.

The author suggests that there is no conclusive evidence that 9/11 was of foreign origin, and to the contrary, quite a bit of evidence that the hijackers had been trained at US military bases, protected by the CIA and FBI, and that the end result of their actions--including controlled flying into buildings and controlled demolitions bringing down three towers, one of which was not hit at all, all suggest a US-based conspiracy.

The author is compelling in his review of the conflicts of interest for each of the 9/11 Commissioners and key staff; he is conclusive in his damnation of their performance and their refusal to be tough with NORAD, the FAA, and many other Executive organizations that refused to cooperate; and he is conclusive on his suggestion that all actual evidence points to the Pentagon being hit by a missile rather than an airplane.

The author is especially compelling in condemning Rudy Guilliani as part of the conspiracy, and as the "bud" of the extreme right charged with cleaning up the crime scene. Instead of making the area off-limits, Gulliani moved aggressively to "scoop and dump" to the point that firefighters rioted.

I sit here, a 54-year old, liberally educated, two graduate degrees, war college, a life overseas, 150 IQ or so, the number #1 Amazon reviewer for non-fiction, a former Marine Corps infantry officer, a former CIA clandestine case officer, founder of the Marine Corps Intelligence Center, and I have to tell anyone who cares to read this: I believe it. I believe it enough to want a full investigation that passes the smell test of the 9/11 families as well as objective outside observers. I believe it sufficient to indict Dick Cheney and other neo-cons. Sadly, the Executive is now in the service of corporations that benefit from high crimes and misdemeanors, rather than in the service of the American people who suffer great ill from these terrible mis-deeds.

My bottom line: justice has NOT been done, and this book, together with Crossing the Rubicon, is a major reason why I believe that eventually, Dick Cheney and others will be brought to justice. The people now have a digital memory and collective intelligence. Bin Laden Dead or Alive? Mission Accomplished? Civil liberties at home, democracy abroad? Just who are we kidding? More to the point, who are we betraying if not ourselves?
